6 Things Your Website Needs to Convert Visitors to Buyers

When building or updating your website one of the most important pieces of advice I can share with you is to keep your user experience top of mind. Good SEO is important. But you are creating a website to attract and convert visitors. Focusing on these 6 things will help you do just that!

  • Photos of you + your story

People connect with the human side of your business, they want to know who is the the face of the brand, what is happening behind the scenes, they want to know YOU. What makes you unique is your story, your struggles, your wins, how you came to be who you are now and what made you start your business. Having your photos throughout the site is key. Sure, I am a brand photographer, so I will always promote this. But it is also very very true. Have a blurb about you on the Home page, with a fun photo that represents you, and add more details for a deeper look into your story on the About page.

  • A mission statement

Seems like a no brainer right? But there is a secret to crafting a perfect mission statement that converts! Putting what you do, who you do it for, and what they will get out it into a concise sentence is the key! Use this formula and see what you can come up with: I (what you do) so that (who you do it for) can (end result of working with you). Here is mine: I help women confidently step into their POWER, fall in love with the SPOTLIGHT and upgrade their online presence by offering a VIP personal branding photography experience like no other (it’s slightly re-structured from the formula, but all the elements are in there!). Try it and let me know what you get.

  • Samples of your work

What is the end result of your work and how can you showcase it? As a photographer, I am obviously going to pick some of my best photos for the home page. As a coach or a healer, that would be photos of how you work and what it looks like as you’re working. As a fitness instructor, it will likely also be you in action. There’s never enough of you to showcase!

  • Clear call to action

Tell people what to do next. Prompt them with a clear message on how to take the next step: buy from you, sign up for a session, learn more or join your class. If your goal is brand awareness, prompt them to follow you on social media. If you are building a mailing list, promote a freebie (lead magnet)

  • Client testimonials

Show us that it works! Let us see how others benefited from the service. Convince people you are the right person for the job by sharing the experiences of others. Nothing sells better than social proof.

  • Links to social media pages

Let people learn more about you and follow you on your platforms to let them in on your life and business. The sale process can take up to several years of watching and following your journey. Social media is a great way to keep them in the loop, engaged and involved!
