How to be more confident in front of a camera

Are you one of those people who says they will be doing more lives and reels on instagram but never do? My guess is that you likely don’t feel 100% confident in front of the camera!

Sure, not everyone is born a super model. I mean, most people get self-conscious when they step into the spotlight. I am that person too! Yet every time I pose my clients and do a reel, I hear “Oh my gosh you are such a natural!”

Want to know what helps me get more comfortable?

  • PRACTICE! Yep, the more I do it the easier it gets. Sometimes I record myself over and over again till I get it right. Some days I have to write out my script to keep myself on point. With poses and angles, I often try them in front of the mirror. Practicing and getting comfortable with knowing what faces, angles and positions look good helps me so much when I am stepping out live.

  • DRESS FOR SUCCESS You know the one thing that takes my confidence level from 0 to 10 in an instant? A great comfortable outfit I absolutely love! When I am in sweats and an old stained tee shirt (not that I have many of those in my closet, just sayin’ lol) my confidence is like that teeshirt I have that says “I wasn’t planning on getting out of the car”. I know in this day and age getting dressed up is more like getting out of one pair of sweatpants and into the other, but I tell you, a cute outfit and some makeup does wonders to your self image and confidence.

  • YOUR MESSAGE IS WHAT COUNTS Remember that book “Girl wash your face?” What it really comes down is getting out of your own way. Stop obsessing over what you look like or sound. At the end of the day what really matters is your message. People will not remember your outfit, they will forget what your hair looked like. What will resonate and stay with them is what you have to say. You have a gift to share and a story to tell. Don’t let anything stand in your way!

What are some of your favorite ways to get comfortable with the spotlight?
