Use These Tips to Improve Your Local Marketing
For a small business who depends on local reach to attract new clients, there are a few simple things you could do to improve it.
Set up your Google my Business page. Google my business is gold for local marketing. You can add your photos, services you offer, list your website, set your hours and request Google reviews from customers this way. Showing up on a Google map it a must for any business looking to gain local reach.
Network in person and on social media. Find places where your target audience hangs out and go spend time there. Coffee shops, co-working places, community events are all great places to network. If you are more introverted like myself, you can do the same online. Meet new people on social media by following local tags, joining local Facebook groups, commenting and participating in community discussions. Reach out and introduce yourself and what you do on hyper local community boards like NextDoor.
Join forces with other businesses in your area. For example, if you are a photographer who focuses primarily on photographing families, you could reach out to your local preschool to be their photographer. It’s a great way to meet new families. You could host joint events too, for example, if you are a yoga instructor, you could partner up with a local farm or a flower shop to offer Sunday morning classes on their property. It’s a win-win for both businesses!
Tag your city and local areas of attraction in your social media posts. There is a lot you could do with social media, and a lot of advice on how to do it as well. Do a quick research. When putting tags on Instagram, leave them in comments not in the body of the post itself. And when you follow those tags, you can engage with other businesses using the same tag. Don’t forget to add location to your posts.
Last but not least, local SEO is still your biggest friend. There is no way around it. If you have a website, you need to be adding your location + what you do as keywords to your webpages. You can often find these in the website settings or Marketing settings of your website. Not sure how to go about it? Ask me!
